When will they likely begin? How can these side effects be prevented or managed? How can I take care of the affected skin during my treatment period? Who should I tell when a side effect appears or gets worse? Are there specific side effects I should tell the doctor about right away? Who can I talk with if I'm feeling anxious or upset about having this treatment? If I'm having side effects that affect my nutrition, can you recommend an oncology dietitian? What are other ways I can take care of myself during the treatment period? Are there any restrictions on exercising or other physical activity during this treatment? Could this treatment affect my sex life? If so, how and for how long? Could this treatment affect my ability to become pregnant or have a child? If so, should I talk with a fertility specialist before cancer treatment begins? What are the potential long-term effects of this type of radiation therapy? If I'm worried about managing the financial costs of cancer care, who can help me?

Hi fellow komodos, I'm using throwaway account for privacy reasons My sister (mid 20s) found a lump in her breast and went to the doctor, and then got mammogram and biopsy. Doctor determines she has breast cancer. My hometown has no good facility / hospital for cancer treatment so she and my parents went to Jakarta and had a consultation with another 3 doctors (oncologist), all of them said the same thing, she has a cancer. Because we know this shit is scary, and suggestion from doctors, we decided to perform a mastectomy After mastectomy, they found if she still need chemotherapy and surgery, which turns out could be very expensive (my family is middle class, we already paid the initial surgery and hospital from our pockets, but I wonder if we can pay everything without insurance). The oncologist asks her to move her BPJS from "daerah" to Jakarta, so she can use BPJS for chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Is there anyone who has tips / advice / experience dealing with BPJS for cancer treatment in Jakarta?
Genetic disorders. Certain genetic disorders, such as Down syndrome, are associated with an increased risk of AML. Many people with AML have no known risk factors, and many people who have risk factors never develop the cancer. Question is can be lentivirus vector a reason for AML? Potentially it's possibly if it integrated correct copy of gene in some sensitive DNA sequence (gene) but most likely this integration will just silence this gene copy. It's very unlikely to prove that LentiGlobin treatment induce AML in patients and even if it did it will be impossible to prove it. I will buy both AVRO and BLUE at deep because both companies have very good portfolio for gene therapy or rare and genetic diseases. Any gene therapy tool can damage genes (even CRISPR) but the probability to induce cancers is very low in these cases.
At the end of 2019, my mom had vaginal bleeding almost every single day. My mom is not the type to see the doctor, but she finally saw a doctor after I kept nagging her. A few things happened and the pathology showed The biopsy showed endometroid endometrial adenocarcinoma, FIGO grade 1. Shortly after, she was booked for surgery and she had a hysterectomy right before the lockdowns happened. According to the surgeon, the surgery was unremarkable. Fast forward a few months (end of 2020) and my mom was complaining about left leg pain. As days went on, her left leg was getting more and more swollen. My mom went to the emergency room at the hospital twice only for the doctor to request a DVT ultrasound and she was cleared for blood clots and subsequently discharged for the hospital. Obviously something was wrong with her and I brought her to the emergency room to request a CT scan. The CT scan revealed 12. 3 x 7. 5 x 10. 3 cm tumor sitting on her left pelvic wall and encases the left iliac vein.
People are so incredibly desperate to 'fight' and be brave for their loved ones to try anything and live on for their family. However, almost always it's the chemotherapy or the radiation therapy that kills you in the end. Like I said; either by kidney failure, liver failure, pneumonia or some other infection. The 'treatments' are usually so brutal that they leave you defenceless without an immune system to fight off any bacteria or virus and you end up on a breathing machine because your lungs are screwed and your dead. But your death certificate will still say; died from cancer. Pisses me off. Source; I've been diagnosed with cancer over ten years ago. I endured cutting edge clinical trial type radiation therapy, also chemotherapy, also surgeries, also hormone therapies and other experimental treatments. After three years of experiencing hell (the treatments were doing more damage) I quit all treatment and have been living as peaceful life I can for whatever years I have left. I refuse to die to chemo, radiation and all the other stupid treatments when after years of enduring it; all it ever did was make me sicker (permanently), and make my daily quality of life miserable.
